 As people become less addicted, they gradually use less stronger patches until they don't need to wear any at all. The patches will be added to the 'Quit Kits' currently handed out to smokers trying to give via the NHS Stop Smoking Campaign. At the moment this pack only contains items such as a good luck postcard and a elastic band-type toy to help keep their hands occupied and a card with the 'stop smoking' helpline number. The Department of Health has not yet been confirmed how many patches in total, or the number that will be provided in each Quit Kit. The patches - which normally cost between £10 and £14 for a week's supply - have been shown to double smokers' chances of quitting. Often those trying to give up suffer withdrawal symptoms from the substance including depression which in rare cases is so severe people become suicidal. Health secretary Andrew Lansley wants to drastically increase the numbers of smokers successfully giving up. The latest figures show that the proportion trying to kick the habit has almost halved in the last three years. Currently only 17 per cent of smokers are attempting to give up down from 32 per cent in 2007. But over the same time period the amount of money pumped into the NHS Stop Smoking campaign has risen from £51 million. Figures show that just over a fifth of adults in Britain smoke of whom two thirds would like to give up. On average smokers' life expectancy is reduced by around ten years and half will die of a related illness such as lung cancer, heart disease, and lung disease. Ministers are also expected to launch a scheme to give out free gym and swimming pool vouchers within the next few days/ Up to five million 'voucher chequebooks' are likely to be made available over the coming weeks from locations including ASDA supermarkets, GP surgeries and schools. Each chequebook is thought to contain 20 vouchers, which will give families discounted sessions at their local gym or pool. It is not yet clear whether they will handed out on a first-come first-served basis or will only be given to certain priority groups such as the obese. Yang masuk ke trending topics Twitter dunia bukan soal kemenangan tim negeri jiran tersebut tapi soal ketidaksportifan para suporternya. Hashtag "#malaysiacheatlaser bahkan menjadi trending topics terpopuler. Sebelumnya, kata "curang" dan "lasers" yang merujuk kepada tindakan menyorotkan sinar laser ke muka kiper Timnas Indonesia Markus Harison selama pertandingan juga sempat masuk ke trending topics dunia.  "Dunia harus tahu betapa rendahnya supporter Malaysia," tulis salah seorang pengguna Twitter asal Indonesia. Namun, di lain pihak, pengguan lainnya menulis, suporter Indonesia harus fair dan tak perlu membalas dengan cara yang sama saat Malaysia bertandang ke Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno, 29 Desember mendatang.  Laser yang disorotkan ke arah muka Markus Harison memang sempat beberapa kali diprotes penjaga gawang timnas tersebut. Bahkan, pada menit ke-54 pertandingan sempat dihentikan wasit beberapa menit akibat hal tersebut. Begitu pertandingan dilanjutkan, Indonesia tak dapat menahan serangan Malaysia yang gawang Markus pun jebol tiga kali.  |

Para pendukung timnas "mencak-mencak" melalui status yang ditulis di mikrobloging Twitter. Hal itu terasa lebih karena para pemain Indonesia sempat mengajukan protes dan melakukan aksi walkout. Penulis Raditya Dika dalam akunnya @radityadika menulis, "Gue harus bales dendam pas MAL vs INA. Karena di rumah gak ada laser, jadi gue bakalan bawa sepatu kets nyala-nyala punya adek gue". Kelakuan suporter Malaysia diharapkan Staf Khusus Presiden Bidang Hukum Denny Indrayana tak dilakukan suporter Indonesia. "Semoga penonton kita bisa lebih tertib. Tidak ada laser, petasan, dll. Buktikan Indonesia Menang!," demikian Denny dalam akunnya @dennyindrayana. Adapun Menteri Komunikasi dan Informatika Tifatul Sembiring memilih berpantun untuk menyemangati para pemain timnas. KUALA LUMPUR, KOMPAS.com - Akibat insiden sinar laser, Indonesia kehilangan konsentrasi dan momentum untuk menang di babak kedua. Alhasil, Firman Utina dan kawan-kawan dibantai 0-3 oleh tuan rumah Malaysia pada leg pertama final Piala AFF 2010, Minggu (26/12/2010). Sebelum adanya insiden laser, Indonesia bermain penuh disiplin. "Tim Merah Putih" bahkan mampu mencetak gol lebih dulu lewat sontekan Cristian Gonzales saat babak kedua baru berjalan dua menit. Sayang, gol tersebut dianulir wasit karena Gonzales berada dalam posisi offside. Semua momentum menyerang itu seakan sirna setelah suporter Malaysia menembak mata Markus Horison dengan laser. Pertandingan pun terpaksa ditunda selama beberapa menit dan "Garuda" kehilangan momentum menyerangnya. Malaysia memanfaatkan ini dengan memutar arus pertandingan. Serangan demi serangan terus dibangun sampai akhirnya tiga gol bersarang di gawang Markus. Gol-gol bagi Malaysia dimulai dari aksi Mohd Safee Bin Mohd Sali di menit ke 60 memanfaatkan umpan matang Norshahrul Idlan Bin Talahaoleh. Selang delapan menit kemudian, Mohamad Ashari Bin Samsudin memperbesar keunggulan Harimau Malaya melalui sebuah tendangan geledek. Adapun gol ketiga datang dari sundulan Mohd Safee Bin Mohd Sali yang tak terkawal di kotak penalti.
