 Nokia baru saja merilis update pertama (versi 1.1) untuk perangkat berbasis Symbian^3 seperti Nokia N8, C7, dan C6-01. Dalam update ini terdapat beberapa perbaikan bug dan penambahan fitur untuk masing-masing perangkat tersebut.Secara umum update ini akan meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasinya sehingga bisa menerima permintaan meeting dari email secara langsung. Selain itu juga dipasang integrasi peta di email sehingga pengguna bisa melihat lokasi yang dimaksud untuk meeting tersebut. Sementara itu pengguna N8 mendapatkan fitur baru yang bermanfaat di Quick Office 6.4 seperti kemampuan zoom-in dan zoom-out dokumen Word dan tiga game preloaded baru - yang sebenarnya sudah tersedia secara gratis di Ovi Store. Sayangnya di update ini tidak ada fitur papan ketik virtual QWERTY untuk posisi tegak maupun update browser yang sudah terasa ketinggalan jaman jika dibandingkan browser yang diusung para pesaingnya.
Pengguna ketiga handset Nokia berbasis Symbian^3 ini bisa melakukan update melalui fitur Software Update yang tersedia di dalam perangkat ataupun melalui Ovi Suite.  Jelang laga uji coba menghadapi Pelita Jaya junior di Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta, besok malam, timnas Indonesia proyeksi praolimpiade bakal dipastikan tampil tanpa lima pemain pilarnya. Absennya lima pemain kunci tersebut disebabkan persoalan cidera. Tiga pemain tercatat mengalami cedera hamstring. Oktovianus Maniani (Sriwijaya FC), Dendi Santoso (Arema), Egi Melgiansyah (Pelita Jaya). Adapun Nasution Karubaba (Perseman Manokwari) mengalami cidera pada jempol kaki, sementara Rishadi Fauzi (Persita Tangerang) mengalami cidera engkel. "Pertandingan besok, lima pemain akan out. Kami tidak ingin mengambil resiko karena empat pemain mengalami masalah otot, dan satu pemain memiliki masalah dengan jempol kaki. Jadi mereka tidak bisa main," ujar Riedl usai memimpin latihan, Jumat (4/2/2011). Riedl menganggap kondisi tersebut sebagai gambaran buruknya fisik para pemain timnas yang telah dijaring lewat seleksi beberapa waktu lalu. Pun demikian, Riedl mengakui jika saat ini fisik pemain mereka telah mengalami kemajuan pesat setelah digenjot latihan selama lebih dari 10 hari. "Kami memiliki banyak pemain cidera.  I'm logged into Gmail, but when I try to go to blogger.com in another tab, I'm getting an error code: bX-s4wgrq. (I'm supposed to tell everyone this code, as if it means something.) I was logged in a few hours ago from another computer. The blog is still up, and the other blog authors are able to get in without any problem. Anyone else having this problem?  Sepertinya tidak ada satu orang pun yang benar-benar percaya kalau OS MeeGo bisa menjadi ancaman serius bagi OS popular lain seperti Android, iOS, BlackBerry, atau bahkan Windows phone 7. Bahkan seorang analis Bank Barenberg bernama Adnaan Ahmad mengatakan yang lebih jauh, mengistilahkan MeeGo sebagai "candaan terbesar di industri teknologi".Bahkan OS gabungan kerjasama Intel dengan Nokia ini malah disebut-sebut jauh berada dibelakang Apple dan Google. Menurut Ahmad, Nokia seharusnya berfokus pada portofolio high-end dengan WP7, memungkinkan perusahaan tersebut untuk mengurangi biaya berlebihan pada rentang harga menengah.  Dengan mendorong OS Symbian untuk ponsel kelas bawah hingga menengah secepat mungkin, Nokia masih bisa mempertahankan pangsa pasar melawan ponsel Android kelas bawah selanjutnya, tambah Ahmad. Tentu saja ini baru sebatas saran yang baik menurut Adnaan Ahmad dan belum tentu Nokia akan menjalankannya sebagai kebijakan strategisnya. Yang jelas semua sudah mengetahui popularitas Symbian semakin lama semakin turun dan mulai ditinggalkan. For the scan photographs showed an entirely normal baby who was also captured giving the thumbs up. Expectant mother Donna Sayer, 29, had two scans at a hospital in Canterbury Kent several weeks after becoming pregnant in August.  She and her partner Simon Biscoe became concerned when it appeared their baby's head seemed to be elongated and too small. But the pair were delighted when they went for their third scan at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. It showed their baby's head had reached a normal size and there were no medical concerns. But Ms Sayer and the nurses laughed when they realised the baby was giving the thumbs-up.  Ms Sayer, who is food and beverage manager at Kent County Cricket Club, said today: 'After checking everything was okay. the nurse said she would try to get some more photographs of the baby. 'But it was hiding and all she could get was its hand giving the thumbs-up as if it was trying to tell us that everything was fine. The image was quite clear. 'We had both been concerned during the two weeks before I had the third scan, but everything is okay. We have shown the photograph to family and friends. They all think it is quite apt.' Donna, from Whitstable, who is due to give birth in May, added: 'Everyone who has seen the picture has been astonished.' Fay Smith, an ultrasound practitioner at William Harvey Hospital in nearby Ashford, said: 'You see them sucking their thumbs, doing rude gestures, and, in later scans, blinking. 'I often laugh with parents-to-be when babies have got their hands over their private parts!'  The 44-second video was captured from a building close to the street and shown on the CNN website. It opens with pedestrians milling around and chatting on a street in the Egyptian capital and appears inconspicuous until the person behind the camera captures the green van approaching the crowd at speed. As it approaches it does not appear to apply the brakes at all, with pedestrians in the road running for cover. A child is seen sprinting across the road, while one bystander with a pink top around their waist somehow avoids being clipped by the van's front wing as it drives by.   With seemingly no thought for human life, the deranged driver of the vehicle continues towards the people who are on the street. With numerous people around, the video then captures the moment the vehicle mows down several pedestrians. As it approaches, and having witnessed what has just happened, people are seen running away but at least three men appear to have their backs turned to the van as it drives into them. Two are clipped and fall to the side as they are thrown into the road.  However one man is struck flush by bonnet and appears to be dragged under the front left wheel of the vehicle before sliding along the tarmac. Amazingly given what has just happened, he gets to his feet and walks to the kerbside. Having also collided with a white car that was among the crowd, the van then continues into the distance, narrowly avoiding others further up the road.  OSLO, Norway — A Norwegian lawmaker has nominated WikiLeaks for the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize, saying Wednesday that its disclosures of classified documents promote world peace by holding governments accountable for their actions.The Norwegian Nobel Committee keeps candidates secret for 50 years, but those with nomination rights sometimes make their picks known. Snorre Valen, a 26-year-old legislator from Norway's Socialist Left Party, told The Associated Press he handed in his nomination in person on Tuesday, the last day to put forth candidates. "I think it is important to raise a debate about freedom of expression and that truth is always the first casualty in war," Valen said. "WikiLeaks wants to make governments accountable for their actions and that contributes to peace." Valen also announced his choice on his blog, where he wrote that WikiLeaks had advanced the struggle for human rights, democracy and freedom of speech, just like last year's winner, Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo. Valen cited disclosures of nepotism and corruption in Tunisia's presidential family, saying WikiLeaks "made a small contribution to bringing down" that regime. The prize committee typically receives more than 200 nominations, so being nominated doesn't say anything about a candidate's chances of actually winning. And there's no way of knowing for sure that people who announce candidates actually submitted a legitimate nomination to the award committee. Kristian Harpsviken, a leading Nobel-watcher and director of the Peace Research Institute Oslo, said he didn't consider WikiLeaks as a strong candidate for the 10 million kronor ($1.6 million) award.  Banjir lahar dingin di Sungai Putih pada Rabu (2/2/2011) malam mengakibatkan Dusun Klumpukan, Desa Seloboro, Kecamatan Salam, dan Dusun Karangsanggrahan, Desa Plosogede, Kecamatan Ngluwar, Kabupaten Magelang, terkena luapan lahar dingin.Sarwiji, warga Seloboro, Kamis (3/2/2011) di Magelang mengatakan, di Dusun Klumpukan terdapat pertemuan Sungai Putih dan Sungai Jlegong. Saat terjadi banjir lahar dingin di Sungai Putih, material menerjang Sungai Jlegong dan memenuhi aliran sungai kecil tersebut. Menurut dia, aliran air di Sungai Jlegong kalah dan membelok masuk ke permukiman di tepi sungai. Sebanyak 13 rumah dilewati luapan Sungai Jlegong dan empat rumah di antaranya rusak parah karena material pasir masuk ke rumah. Keempat rumah tersebut, milik Walim, Robani, Harjo, dan Sumarmi, berada di tepi pertemuan dua sungai. Rumah-rumah itu tertimbun pasir hingga setinggi 1,5 meter. Pada Kamis siang, sejumlah warga masih berupaya menyelamatkan barang-barang di dalam rumah. Mereka juga membuat tanggul pengaman sederhana dari karung berisi pasir. Karung-karung itu ditumpuk di pintu dan jendela rumah bagian belakang yang menghadap langsung ke sungai. Puluhan relawan membuat tanggul sederhana dari karung berisi pasir. Selanjutnya karung ditumpuk di bibir sungai setinggi 2 meter dan sepanjang sekitar 100 meter. Menurut Sarwiji, sekitar 6.000 karung pasir dibuat untuk tanggul tersebut. "Meskipun tidak menjamin bisa mencegah luapan banjir lahar dingin dari sungai, kami tetap berupaya karena hanya ini yang bisa kami lakukan," tuturnya. Menurut dia, warga yang rumahnya rusak tidak mengungsi ke lokasi pengungsian. Mereka hanya meninggalkan rumah ketika terjadi banjir dan menuju ke rumah warga yang dianggap lebih aman. Luapan banjir lahar Sungai Putih di Dusun Karangsanggrahan, Desa Plosogede, menyebabkan sedikitnya 25 rumah kemasukan air dan lumpur. Perangkat Desa Plosogede, Yunan Fanani, mengatakan, kawasan tersebut sudah dua kali terkena luapan banjir lahar Sungai Putih. Luapan pertama pada awal Januari 2011 dan luapan kedua ini lebih besar. "Dahulu hanya belasan rumah yang terkena luapan, sekarang 25 rumah," ucapnya. Banjir lahar dingin di Dusun Karangsanggrahan berasal dari luapan Sungai Putih di SMK Negeri Salam yang melewati persawahan dan sampai di permukiman dusun tersebut.  Samsung beberapa waktu lalu telah merilis Samsung I9003 Galaxy SL dengan layar Super Clear LCD. Selain berbeda dari layar Galaxy S yang memakai Super AMOLED, handset ini ternyata juga memiliki bagian dalam yang berbeda. Samsung I9003 Galaxy SL memakai Android 2.2 Froyo dengan isi sangat mirip I9000 Galaxy S kecuali pada prosesor dan memorinya. Galaxy SL memakai prosesor TI OMAP 3630 1GHz, bukan Hummingbird dan dengan memori internal hanya 16GB tanpa versi 8GB. RAM yang dipakai juga lebih besar 138MB dari Galaxy S.
Saat ini Samsung I9003 Galaxy SL telah tampak di halaman Samsung Middle East dan Asia. Belum ada rilis pers resmi yang menyebutkan pasar dimana I9003 akan menggantikan I9000. Perlu diingat bahwa I9003 Galaxy SL bukanlah penerus Galaxy S karena sudah ada Galaxy S2 yang akan diumumkan 13 Februari nanti saat MWC 2011. Sepertinya Samsung I9003 SL merupakan cara untuk menyiasati kebutuhan panel AMOLED yang dipasang pada Galaxy S2 tanpa perlu menghentikan produksi Galaxy S original secara bersamaan.  Reddit has reached a new milestone: 1 billion monthly pageviews. That's up 300% from a year ago and a 20% increase from just last month.As it occasionally does, the Condé Nast-owned company disclosed its January 2011 traffic stats. Its biggest accomplishment was breaking the billion pageview milestone. Specifically, the social media service garnered 1,000,404,480 pageviews. As Reddit notes in its blog post, only about 100 other websites can stake a claim in the billion pageviews club. Even more impressive is that those 1 billion pageviews were generated from just 13.75 million absolute unique visitors, which accounted for a total of 68.11 million visits. A big reason why Reddit can generate so many pageviews from so few people is that the average person checks out 14.7 pages per visit and stays on the site on average for 15 minutes and 40 seconds. It's clear that Reddit's growth rate is accelerating. It had 250 million pageviews in January 2010 and 429 million pageviews between June 14 and July 14. And just last month, the Condé Nast website reported 829 million pageviews. If you do the math, that means pageviews increased by over 20% in a single month. Since January 2010, Reddit's pageviews have grown by 300%.
